Saudi Arabia Online Travel Market Size, Growth & Forecast 2026-2034

Saudi Arabia Online Travel Market

The Saudi Arabia online travel market is expanding as digital platforms become the main route for booking flights, hotels, packages and pilgrimage services across the Kingdom. The market covers online travel agencies, metasearch platforms, airline and hotel direct channels and government-run digital portals. Saudi Arabia online travel market size increased from USD 5.8 Billion in 2025 to USD 6.3 Billion in 2026. Looking forward, IMARC Group expects the market to reach USD 13.0 Billion by 2034, exhibiting a growth rate (CAGR) of 9.41% during 2026-2034. Demand is supported by a young, highly connected population, record domestic travel, large religious tourism flows and heavy public investment in tourism and aviation. The Kingdom recorded an estimated 122 million domestic and international visitors in its latest full-year data, a 5% rise, with total tourism spending of about SAR 300 billion (around US$80 billion), up 6%.

Digital adoption is deepening across the travel journey. According to the CEO of Almosafer, Saudi Arabia’s largest travel company, about 60% of bookings in the Kingdom are made online, which leaves a sizeable offline base still to convert. Almosafer’s consumer travel business alone generates around US$1.5 billion in gross booking value, with roughly 70% from flights and 30% from non-air services. Airport traffic exceeded 140 million passengers, up about 9%, across nearly one million flights to 176 destinations. This scale of travel gives online platforms a very large booking pool. Government-led digital ecosystems, new airlines and wider visa access are also pushing more travelers to plan and pay online.

How AI is Reshaping the Future of the Saudi Arabia Online Travel Market?

  • AI-Powered Trip Planning and Conversational Booking: Online travel agencies are embedding generative AI into the planning journey so travelers can describe a trip in natural language and receive itineraries, flights and hotels. In April 2026, Almosafer launched an AI travel planning feature on ChatGPT, letting users move from inspiration to booking in one conversation. This shortens the search stage and lifts conversion for domestic and regional trips.
  • Dynamic Pricing and Demand Forecasting for Peak Seasons: Machine learning helps platforms and airlines anticipate demand surges around Ramadan, school holidays and the winter season. Wego data showed a 64% year-on-year rise in domestic flight bookings during a recent winter season, and searches for accommodation in Makkah and Madinah climbed by more than 20% ahead of Ramadan. Predictive models let platforms adjust inventory, pricing and marketing spend ahead of these spikes.
  • Personalization and Smart Pilgrimage Services: AI-driven recommendations and automated workflows are improving the pilgrim experience, from visa processing to hotel selection near the Haram. Wego’s partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in June 2026 to improve the digital Umrah experience reflects how private platforms and government systems are now connecting. Personalized bundles of visas, transport and stays raise average booking value and reduce drop-offs.

Saudi Arabia Online Travel Market Trends and Drivers:

The Saudi Arabia online travel market is benefiting from a strong policy push behind tourism. The Kingdom surpassed its original target of 100 million annual visits well ahead of schedule and has since raised the goal to 150 million annual visits, including 70 million international arrivals, under Saudi Vision 2030. Tourism spending by inbound visitors has also been climbing, with a recent central bank reading showing about SAR 153.6 billion (US$40.9 billion) of inbound spending, up nearly 14%. Roughly 40% of tourism investment capital has come from foreign investors. Every added hotel room, attraction and flight route creates more inventory for online platforms to sell.

Domestic travel is a powerful growth engine. In the first quarter of 2026, the Ministry of Tourism reported domestic trips up 16% to about 28.9 million, lifting combined domestic and international visitors to roughly 37.2 million, with estimated spending of around SAR 82.7 billion and hospitality occupancy averaging about 59%. Domestic travelers are heavy users of mobile apps and online booking, which supports short-break and experience-led trips. At the same time, international arrivals softened in the same quarter, falling about 13% to roughly 8.3 million amid regional uncertainty, although international visitors still contributed around 58% of total tourism expenditure. This shift is encouraging platforms to balance domestic campaigns with sustained efforts to win back inbound demand.

Digital religious tourism is a distinctive driver. The Nusuk platform, run by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, now offers more than 130 services in over 20 languages and has reached more than 51 million users across 190 countries. In August 2025, the Ministry launched Nusuk Umrah, allowing international pilgrims to apply for Umrah visas and book related services online without intermediaries. In July 2026, the Kingdom announced a multiple-entry Umrah visa valid for 365 days with a cumulative stay of up to 90 days. Because pilgrims often extend their trips to visit other cities, these reforms widen the opportunity for online agencies selling flights, hotels and tours around the core pilgrimage.

Aviation expansion is the other major pillar. Riyadh Air operated its first commercial flight in October 2025 and began London services in June 2026, with plans to receive 10 aircraft by the end of 2026 and connect to more than 100 destinations over the coming years. Saudia has placed a US$19 billion order for 105 Airbus A320neo aircraft, with deliveries starting in 2026. The country is also preparing to add three more airlines to the existing group of Saudia, flynas, flyadeal and Riyadh Air. More routes, more seats and more competition mean more fares to compare and book online, while strong digital infrastructure and rising e-commerce activity (existing e-commerce registrations rose 9% in the first quarter of 2026) support payment and checkout adoption.
